Chapter 2: 9 Tips to become proficient in al-Qur’an.
Among the obligations of the Muslims towards al-Qur’an is to observe and study (tadabbur) its contents. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala says:
(This is) a Book (the Qur’an) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember. [Shad 38:29]
To enable us to study al-Qur’an and get the most benefit from it, there are nine tips or guidelines that need to be looked at carefully. These tips are actually from al-Qur’an itself, followed by the Sunnah and clarification from the Islamic Scholars. Here is the list of the guidelines:
Tips # 1: Have the desire to study al-Qur’an Tips # 2: Cleansing the misconception that learning al-Qur’an on our own will lead astray Tips # 3: To realise that al-Qur’an was revealed by Allah Tips # 4: To realise that al-Qur’an is meant for us Tips # 5: To accept al-Qur’an as a guidance and not otherwise Tips # 6: To measure the reality to al-Qur’an and not vice versa Tips # 7: Unrestraint al-Qur’an from the limitation of people, time and place Tips # 8: Not interpreting al-Qur’an Tips # 9: Putting into practice whatever we have been learnt from al-Qur’an
