Chapter 1: Acquainting with al-Qur’an. |
|
3. al-Qur’an distinguishes the truth from the falsehood
The month of Ramadhan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (al-furqaan; distinguisher between right and wrong). [al-Baqarah 2:185]
Life is full of questions. What is wrong and what is right? How should we differentiate both? Al-Qur’an with its role as al-furqaan not only helps us distinguish the truth from the falsehood it also explains to us the methodology to use as a benchmark to distinguish the truth from the falsehood:
O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad s.a.w) and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. If you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah (al-Qur’an) and His Messenger (as-sunnah), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. [al-Nisa 4:59]
